Golden Bell Award Nominations for Pomona USD

Great news! Pomona USD has been nominated for 3 CSBA Golden Bell Awards this year. This is a huge honor. It is very difficult to get nominated at all, and almost impossible to get 3 nominations in one year. Congratulations Pomona USD!

golden_bellThe CSBA Golden Bell Awards, now in its 35th year, promotes excellence in education and school board governance by recognizing outstanding programs and governance practices of school boards in school districts and county offices of education throughout California. Golden Bell Awards reflect the depth and breadth of education programs and governance decisions supporting these programs that are necessary to address students’ changing needs. This awards program highlights best practices in education in all areas of operations, instruction and support services by:

  • seeking out and recognizing key governance practices that support, sustain and inspire the creation and continuance of exemplary education programs
  • seeking out and recognizing sustainable, innovative or exemplary programs which have been developed and successfully implemented by California teachers and administrators
  • recognizing and supporting educators who invest extra energy and time to make a demonstrated difference for students
  • promoting models with positive student outcomes
  • focusing on the commitment to ensure that the needs of all students are met

Tomorrow, August 8th at 9am is this year’s Meet & Greet Fair at Lincoln. Meet your new teacher, sign up for PTA Membership, and talk with some very helpful community organizations. We’ll have a some used uniforms to trade, so bring in your old uniforms from last year…some one can definitely use them. See you tomorrow!

2014 Service Awards

We were honored to be nominated by our amazing principal, Alicia McMullen (Happy Principal’s Day) to receive Service Awards from Pomona USD, City of Pomona, Congresswoman Gloria McLeod, Assemblyman Freddie Rodriguez, and Assemblyman Curt Hagman. Thanks to all the Lincoln PTA members who put in time and energy to make Abraham Lincoln Elementary one of the best schools in the area! Congratulations.

Bicycle Rodeo

Pomona Police Department Traffic Services Unit presents their annual Bicycle Rodeo for kids 3-10.

April 26, 2014 (this Saturday) from 8:30am to 12:30pm at the Pomona Civic Center.

Police officers will inspect bicycles, provide personalized education and will be assisting as they ride their bikes through riding patterns.

Kids who live in Pomona and bring their own bicycle will be provided a FREE HELMET! (while supplies last)

Police officers will get behind the grill to prepare the kids hot dogs! Chips & drinks will also be served.

Several displays will be set up, including the opportunity for kids to take pictures police gear and on a police motorcycle or in a police car.

A brand new bicycle will be raffled off during the event.
