Earth Day in the Garden

April 22nd was Earth Day, although, like one of amazing teachers (Mrs. Gonzalez) tells her 6th grade class, “Everyday is Earth Day!”

We set up times for each class in the entire school to tour our school’s beautiful garden and asked each student to bring in a bag of ingredients to add to our compost bins. It was a great learning experience, the compost bin is full, and the garden is looking amazing. The garden is full of strawberries, corn, lettuce, cabbage, oranges, apples, peas, onions, sunflowers and more.

Autism Awareness Day

Today, April 2nd, marks a special daythe seventh annual World Autism Awareness Day. Lincoln’s PTA wants to say a very special thank you to all the teachers, staff, students, parents and friends who support our students living with Autism (both mainstream and special education) here at Lincoln every single day. We will never completely be able to understand what life is like for those living with Autism, but we are continuing to learn more about them and from them.

To the parents of our amazing students living with Autismyour bravery and dedication is unbelievably inspiring. Thank you for enduring and bringing your child to Lincoln every day. We know it’s not easy, but we hope it never goes unappreciated.

“Think of it: a disability is usually defined in terms of what is missingBut autismis as much about what is abundant as what is missing, an over-expression of the very traits that make our species unique” – Paul Collins, Not Even Wrong: Adventures in Autism
